We are seeking compassionate and experienced Mental Health Registered Nurses to join our healthcare teams supporting people with a range of mental health needs, including complex presentations, acute illness, behavioural challenges and co-occurring substance use concerns.

About the role
As a Mental Health Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, high-quality and person-centred care to people experiencing mental health concerns. You will work collaboratively with consumers, colleagues and other healthcare professionals to support positive health and wellbeing outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conduct comprehensive mental health and clinical assessments.
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualised care and recovery plans.
• Provide evidence-based mental health interventions and therapeutic support.
• Undertake risk assessments and develop appropriate risk and crisis management plans.
• Support people experiencing complex, acute or severe mental health presentations.
• Provide medication administration and monitoring within scope of practice.
• Deliver psychoeducation and therapeutic interventions.
• Build positive and professional therapeutic relationships.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, clinical reviews and care planning.
• Coordinate referrals and access to appropriate medical, nursing, allied health and other support services.
• Support discharge planning and continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical documentation.
• Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in clinical presentation and risk.
• Contribute to the management and de-escalation of challenging behaviours.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in quality improvement, clinical governance and service development activities.
• Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and professional standards.
• Participate in mandatory training and ongoing professional development.

About you

You are a confident and compassionate mental health professional who can work effectively in complex and changing environments.

Essential requirements:

• Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
• A postgraduate qualification in mental health nursing, or a recognised equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ post-registration clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing.
• Strong mental health assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
• Experience in risk assessment, crisis intervention and care planning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Commitment to person-centred and recovery-oriented care.
• Emotional resilience, sound judgement and a professional approach to challenging situations.
• Ability to adapt to changing environments and service requirements.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.

Experience in the following areas is highly regarded:

• Acute inpatient mental health.
