Automotive Spray Painter/Prepper

Role purpose:

To prepare vehicles and carry out spray painting work to a high standard, helping deliver quality smash repairs, clean finishes, and on-time job completion.

Key duties:

1. Sand, fill, mask, clean, and prep panels for painting.
2. Mix paint, match colours, and prepare materials for refinishing.
3. Apply primers, basecoat, clearcoat, and other coatings.
4. Assist with detailing, polishing, and final finish work.
5. Maintain spray guns, tools, booth area, and workplace cleanliness.
6. Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements, and workshop standards.
7. Work with panel beaters, estimators, and other team members to keep jobs moving.

Skills and qualities

1. Experience in spray painting, prep work, or automotive refinishing.
2. Good eye for detail and colour matching.
3. Ability to work safely and follow instructions.
4. Reliable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team.
5. Willingness to learn and keep improving trade skills.
