Lead Mechanical Engineer - Data Centres
- Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services for data centres.

The Opportunity
This role is ideal for an experienced Mechanical Engineer ready to step into a Lead role, with a strong focus on data centres and mission‑critical facilities.
You’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative team, working across major projects locally and nationally. You will lead mechanical design from concept through to delivery, ensuring solutions are efficient, resilient, and future-ready.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services (HVAC) for data centres and other complex facilities
- Take ownership of technical quality, coordination, and documentation across projects
- Develop solutions that support high availability, redundancy, and energy efficiency in mission‑critical environments
- Work directly with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to drive successful outcomes
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers
- Contribute to project planning, risk management, and commercial outcomes
- Support the growth of WSP’s data centre capability in WA and nationally
About You
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- 8+ years’ experience in building services consulting
- Strong technical expertise in HVAC systems and mechanical services design
- Experience delivering complex or large-scale projects (data centre or mission‑critical experience highly regarded)
- Confident leading design packages and engaging with stakeholders
- Chartered / CPEng (or working towards) highly regarded
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative and proactive approach
