HSE Specialist – Barrow Island
Location: Barrow Island, Western Australia
Roster: 14 Days On / 14 Days Off
Airswift is currently recruiting for an experienced HSE Specialist – Projects to support major Phase 4 project activities on Barrow Island (BWI). This position will provide field-based Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) leadership and oversight across multiple construction and installation contracts supporting key project scopes within an operational LNG plant environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSE professional with a strong background in major project execution, contractor management, and operational plant environments to contribute to the safe delivery of critical energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide HSE leadership, coaching and support to construction teams and execution contractors working within an operational LNG facility.
- Conduct HSE audits, inspections and field assurance activities to verify contractor compliance with HSE management systems and project requirements.
- Lead incident investigations and reporting for project-related events.
- Support and guide contractor HSE personnel in the effective implementation of safety programs and initiatives.
- Monitor and verify compliance with Permit to Work (PTW), Isolation of Hazardous Energy, Electrical Safety, SIMOPS and Control of Work processes.
- Foster strong collaboration between project teams, contractor organisations, operational personnel and HSE stakeholders.
- Promote a positive safety culture focused on continuous improvement and injury-free project delivery.
- Ensure alignment with operational excellence and HSE management system expectations throughout project execution.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Degree, Diploma, Certificate or equivalent experience in Health, Safety and/or Environmental disciplines.
- Minimum 8 years of HSE experience supporting contractors and delivering strong HSE performance outcomes.
- Proven experience working during the execution phase of major construction or capital projects.
- Demonstrated capability in leading and promoting project safety culture initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of managing safe work practices, control of work systems and operational excellence management systems.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity, partnership, trust and safety leadership.
Highly Regarded Experience
The following experience will be highly advantageous:
- Working within operational LNG or oil and gas processing facilities.
- Heavy or critical lifting operations.
- High-voltage electrical works.
- Commissioning and start-up activities.
- Phase 4 contractor HSE management experience.
- Previous Barrow Island or offshore project experience.
