Reporting to the DC Manager, the Team Manager - Production provides end-to-end leadership for the Melbourne distribution centre to improve the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of warehousing and logistics operations.

The Team Manager ensures operational stability, consistent standards, and clear accountability across their shift while developing Team Leaders and Leading Hands to build long term capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead production operations while ensuring compliance and team development.
  • Support site leadership, including acting for the DC Manager and overseeing site operations.
  • Drive a safe and compliant workplace, ensuring adherence to WHS, security, legislative, and operational requirements.
  • Lead safety performance, including hazard management, incident prevention, and safe equipment and warehouse operations.
  • Lead, coach and develop team leaders and staff, driving performance, accountability and engagement across the shift.
  • Manage warehouse operations and workforce performance, including attendance, planning, and compliance with operational procedures.
  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring inbound, outbound, replenishment and production activities meet service and dispatch requirements.
  • Optimise shift performance and resources, managing labour, costs, workflow efficiency and operational issues to maintain productivity.
  •  Monitor automated and semi-automated systems and operational flow, responding to bottlenecks, exceptions and equipment constraints to maintain production output.
  • Partner with IT, maintenance, vendors and operational stakeholders to support automation performance and continuous improvement, while monitoring KPIs across Safety, Service, Cost, People and Productivity to identify trends and drive corrective actions.

More about you

  • Degree in Business Administration, commerce, management, industrial technology, industrial engineering, logistics or supply chain management
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse leadership.
  • Experience in automated or semi-automated warehouse environments (conveyor, sortation, robotics, goods-to-person), using WMS and warehouse technology to monitor workflow, productivity and operational performance.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through operational change, system implementation or automation initiatives, while managing KPIs across Safety, Service, Cost, People and Productivity and using data to drive improvement.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability (not just operational strength)
    Strong understanding of WHS obligations
  • Proven ability to lead teams, coordinate daily operations, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

  • Forklift licence (LF/LO) desirable
