Senior Legal Counsel – Major Infrastructure Projects (Australia)
$250-275k base + super + bonus + share scheme
 
A leading engineering and construction organisation is expanding its presence across Australia and is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects.
 
This role sits within a high-performing legal and commercial team and will play a key part in shaping contract strategy, managing risk, and supporting successful project execution across a diverse portfolio of transport, civil, and energy developments.
 
What You’ll Bring
 
●  A strong track record (10+ years) working in legal roles connected to major infrastructure, construction, or engineering environments
●  Deep practical experience supporting the lifecycle of complex projects, particularly in transport, civil works, utilities, or energy infrastructure
●  Demonstrated ability to structure, review, and negotiate complex contractual arrangements, especially during procurement and early project phases
●  Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to interpret legal risk in the context of project outcomes and delivery pressures
●  Proven ability to prioritise effectively and maintain control across multiple active matters in a deadline-driven setting
 
Nice to Have
 
●  Hands-on experience working with collaborative and alternative delivery frameworks, such as EPC, design-and-construct, PPPs, joint ventures, or alliance-style models
●  Familiarity with downstream contracting structures, procurement strategies, and subcontractor arrangements
●  Experience advising on broader project governance, risk allocation frameworks, or commercial structuring decisions
 
Preferred Education & Experience
 
●  Law degree from a recognised Australian university
●  Extensive experience (10+ years) in infrastructure, civil, or energy projects
●  Demonstrated involvement in front-end project development, tendering, and commercial negotiations
