Position SummaryAlloy Steel International (ASI) is seeking a pro-active, experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our state-of-the-art 5,000 square metre Steel Mill and Manufacturing Facility in Malaga, Western Australia. ASI is a vertically integrated company with over 30 years of experience as a global leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of premium quality wear products for the mining and resources sector. Our flagship product, Acroplate® — the world’s most wear-resistant fused-alloy steel plate — is exported to more than 25 countries worldwide and is trusted by customers across mining, mineral processing, and heavy industry. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, the production of 3D models, drawings and any other support-related documentation for developing projects and project development. The Mechanical Engineer (P&E) will work within and manage a small team, within the P&E engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

·Writing of technical reports including parts lists instruction manuals

·Designing and modelling machinery parts and units and performing engineering calculations where and as required

·Creating and drafting manufacturing drawings, specifications, BOMs and other related documentation

·Improving the manufacturing systems and functions

·Providing expert Engineer’s assistance in the assembling and commissioning of new machinery and plant/Mill process improvements

·Maintaining machinery and troubleshooting

·PLC programming, automation systems designing

·Creating cutting plans and programs for various machines within the workshop ie. laser and waterjet

·Generating laser and waterjet quotes for customers

Qualifications

·Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics degree

·Minimum 5 years of experience in an Engineer position

Knowledge / Skills

·Highly proficient in Inventor and other related software.

·Good level of technical knowledge, including welding, machining, hydraulics and pneumatics.

·Exceptional time management.

·Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.

·Proven experience on a diverse range of projects would be preferred.

·An eye for detail and ability to produce quality drawings.

·Excellent communication with ability to work well with Engineers & workshop floor technicians

·Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst undertaking several tasks concurrently.

·Sound Knowledge of Engineering in a manufacturing environment, understanding the many manufacturing processes from design to manufacturing, quality control and delivery in full.

·Knowledge of Computer technology and IT would be an advantage.
