About NYTO

NYTO is a Fremantle-based business specialising in custom cabinetry, furniture and joinery for residential and commercial projects.

Position Purpose

The Cabinet Maker is responsible for the manufacture, assembly and installation of custom cabinetry and joinery.

The role involves working in the NYTO workshop as well as undertaking installation and finishing work at client and project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications.
• Measure, mark, cut and prepare timber, board and other materials.
• Manufacture and assemble custom cabinetry, furniture and joinery.
• Operate woodworking machinery, power tools and hand tools.
• Fit doors, drawers, shelving, panels, hardware and other components.
• Check measurements, alignment, fit and finish throughout the manufacturing process.
• Prepare completed cabinetry and components for installation.
• Install cabinetry and joinery at residential and commercial project sites.
• Measure, fit, level and adjust cabinetry during installation.
• Complete adjustments, finishing and rectification work where required.
• Identify materials and hardware required for allocated jobs.
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
• Work effectively with other NYTO employees, apprentices, subcontractors and trades.
• Assist apprentices and less experienced team members where required.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and work area.
• Follow NYTO safety procedures and site-specific WHS requirements.
• Communicate professionally with clients, builders and other trades when working on site.
• Perform other reasonable duties consistent with the Cabinet Maker role.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

• Relevant Cabinet Making, Joinery or equivalent trade qualification and 12 months relevant experience, or 3+ years' experience in lieu of a relevant qualification.
• Experience manufacturing custom cabinetry and joinery.
• Experience installing cabinetry on site.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and measurements.
• Competence using woodworking machinery, power tools and hand tools.
• Good knowledge of cabinetry materials, fittings and hardware.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good practical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Good communication and time-management skills.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
• Current driver's licence.

Employment Conditions:

• Permanent full-time position.
• 38 ordinary hours per week.
• Salary of $80,000 - $90,000 per annum plus superannuation.
• Leave and other employment entitlements in accordance with the National Employment Standards and applicable workplace requirements.
• Additional hours and other applicable entitlements will be managed in accordance with Australian workplace laws and the applicable industrial instrument.
