Our client is a well-established womenswear fashion brand with a strong retail and concession presence, including a valued partnership with David Jones. They are seeking an experienced Merchandise Planning Manager to take ownership of merchandise planning, buying and allocation across the business.

The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will control and coordinate all merchandise-related functions across product, production, retail and concession sales, and store distribution. This is a hands-on leadership role with genuine influence over the brand's growth and financial performance.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and managing the yearly buying plan and seasonal indent sell thru
  • Managing buy plans and phasing within OTB budgets
  • Assortment planning and stock allocation profiles across store locations
  • Managing replenishment, size control and out-of-stocks
  • Driving KPI performance across sell thru, stock turn and finishing margin
  • Managing markdowns, clearance and stock lifecycle
  • Overseeing in-season and post-season analysis, and the stocktake process
  • Forecasting and management of the BSR merchandise program
  • Chairing the weekly trade meeting across key departments
  • Ensuring merchandise supports all marketing events and campaigns

About You

  • Minimum 7–10 years' experience in a retail merchandise management role
  • Proven leadership experience with strong people management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, at both strategic and executional level
  • Sound understanding of Fashion ERP systems (Apparel 21 or similar)
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organised with a detailed, deadline-driven approach
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard hours and travel as required
