Tax & Financial Accountant

At MediAesthetics, our Finance team plays an important role in supporting a growing and complex national business.
We are looking for a Tax and Financial Accountant to join our Adelaide Support Office and work across both tax and financial accounting. Reporting to the Tax Manager and Finance Manager, you’ll support tax compliance, month-end reporting, reconciliations and financial controls across our corporate and Joint Venture entities.
About the role
This is a broad accounting role with a strong technical focus. You’ll spend approximately 50% of your time supporting the Tax Manager across income tax, GST, FBT and tax-effect accounting, with the remainder supporting the Finance Manager across month-end, reporting, reconciliations and controls.
You’ll work closely with the MediAesthetics Finance team, Wesfarmers Health and Wesfarmers Group Tax teams, external advisors and Joint Venture partners.
Key responsibilities include:
Tax & Compliance
- Support income tax, GST and FBT compliance and reporting.
- Prepare deferred tax, tax-effect accounting and income tax provisions at half-year and year-end.
- Support BAS returns, tax filings and annual tax returns, including for Joint Venture entities.
- Prepare FBT returns and supporting workpapers.
- Support tax policies, procedures, controls and process improvements.
- Assist with tax projects across MediAesthetics and Wesfarmers Health.
Financial Accounting
- Support the month-end close and financial reporting process.
- Prepare and review reconciliations, including Point of Sale and balance sheet accounts.
- Review accounting treatments and perform key financial controls.
- Support accurate and timely reporting to Wesfarmers Health and Wesfarmers Group.
- Work across a complex entity structure, including approximately 80 Joint Venture entities and 26 corporate clinics.
About you
You’re an accountant who enjoys the detail, understands the importance of getting the numbers right and wants exposure across both tax and financial accounting.
You will bring:
- 5+ years' accounting experience, including 2+ years' tax experience.
- Experience across corporate tax, GST and FBT.
- Strong financial accounting and month-end experience.
- Experience with reconciliations, reporting and financial controls.
- Strong Excel and systems capability.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Strong stakeholder and communication skills.
- Experience working across multiple entities would be highly regarded.
Qualifications
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently studying towards CA/CPA.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.
