Principal Technical Specialist - Firewall Security
Talenza is seeking an experienced Principal Technical Specialist to join a big Cyber Security Program on a contract basis.
About the Role
Acting as technical lead on a major firewall replacement and upgrade program, you will lead the deployment, configuration and optimisation of Check Point firewalls (primary platform), with expert support across Palo Alto, F5 (LTM/GTM/WAF) and Cisco routing/switching integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate firewall solutions with Cisco routing and switching for high availability
- Manage firewall rule base optimisation via AlgoSec (NSPM)
- Monitor performance/health using SolarWinds
- Deliver solution designs, ICT change plans, implementation and test documentation
- Advise on emerging requirements and firewall/network security strategy
- Liaise with vendors, project teams and operations to ensure delivery success
About You
- Extensive hands-on experience with Check Point firewalls (build, upgrade, troubleshooting, policy optimisation)
- Strong Palo Alto experience in enterprise environments
- Solid Cisco routing/switching background, particularly firewall integration
- Experience with AlgoSec or equivalent NSPM tools
- Proficiency with SolarWinds or similar monitoring platforms
- Strong understanding of ITIL/ServiceNow change and service management
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, time-critical environment
