Parks Maintainer

We are currently seeking parks & garden staff for a local city council. This is a casual position that will run until the end of August 2025.

Duties Include: 

• Horticultural activities including; weeding, pruning, digging, raking, mulching, planting, spraying (with approved insecticides and herbicides) and mowing in accordance with established maintenance programs.
• Operate in a safe and efficient manner, a range of minor and specialist hand tools and minor mechanical plant up to, but not limited to, hedge trimmers, pole and chainsaws, blowers and other garden maintenance equipment.
• Report on a regular basis any issues (including non-area maintenance) in order to maintain and improve the standard of the City's assets.
• Promote input and new ideas to ensure improved practices are implemented within the work area.
• Share horticultural knowledge and advice to team members.

Requirements: 

• Current Basic Traffic Worksite Management Certificate.
• Experience in a similar position in horticulture role.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise horticultural skills using various materials and/or specialised techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well within the team.
• Current National Police Clearance Certificate.
• Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
• Clear Drug and Alcohol medical.
