About the role

This is an opportunity to join CALHN Pharmacy working with an established team of pharmacists in the Emergency Departments at RAH and QEH. There may be an opportunity for Partnered Pharmacist Medication Prescribing and you will be supported to do this as part of the role if successful. You will apply critical thinking to the clinical decision making process and have a high level of attention to detail to independently chart safely with a commitment to your own professional development and learning. More broadly you will be part of CALHN Pharmacy with access to the full range of expertise available in our dispensing, electronic medication management, manufacturing, investigational drugs, clinical, and medication governance teams.

You will play an important role in achieving the best possible outcomes for patients by promoting the safe, effective and cost-conscious use of medicines. Working collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistants, interns, students and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, you will help balance competing service priorities while contributing to departmental objectives and broader health outcomes. This is an opportunity to use your clinical expertise, professional judgement and collaborative approach to support quality use of medicines and deliver safe, high-quality pharmacy care.

About You

You are an experienced and highly skilled pharmacist who brings strong clinical expertise, leadership capability and a collaborative approach to delivering high-quality pharmacy services. You will thrive in a complex hospital environment and be confident working both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

• Hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent and be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Pharmacy Board of Australia

• Bring extensive hospital pharmacy experience across multiple clinical areas, strong technical knowledge of pharmacy practice and relevant professional standards, with demonstrated leadership, supervisory or management experience.  Experience in Emergency Medicine is highly desirable.

• Demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands, analyse information and deliver accurate outcomes within tight timeframes

• Provide effective leadership, supervision, education and training while working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement strategies that improve pharmacy service delivery

Postgraduate pharmacy qualifications, professional membership, relevant competency accreditation or completion of Advanced Pharmacy Australia Resident training will be highly regarded.
