Role Details:

Reporting to the Paper Mill Manager, this role is responsible for managing production operations across the facility while providing technical leadership and process expertise. The position combines leadership responsibilities with specialist knowledge of paper machine operations to optimise performance, product quality, safety and operational efficiency

What you'll do:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the paper mill to ensure safe, efficient and reliable production.
  • Develop and implement production plans to achieve quality, volume and cost objectives.
  • Drive paper machine performance through sheet break reduction initiatives and root cause analysis.
  • Identify critical process areas impacting machine efficiency, product quality and production performance.
  • Coordinate process control optimisation activities in conjunction with DCS and QCS specialists.
  • Analyse production data and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Manage reel quality, minimise winder-related downgrade and drive improvements in winding efficiency.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, reliability and engineering teams to maximise equipment performance and minimise downtime.
  • Lead incident investigations, ensure compliance with safety requirements and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Assist with customer complaints, corrective actions and product quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in an on-call support roster and provide operational leadership outside standard business hours as required.

What You Will Bring: 

  • Minimum 8 years' experience within a paper manufacturing environment, preferably producing kraft linerboard or similar paper grades.
  • Demonstrated experience in paper machine operations, process optimisation and continuous improvement.
  • Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of paper machine performance metrics, production efficiency and quality management systems.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for production and equipment issues.
  • Degree qualification in Pulp and Paper Technology or Chemical Engineering.
  • Recognised papermaking qualification or diploma.
  • Experience using DCS systems and OSI PI applications.
  • Experience with SAP management systems.
