We're seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the project team based at Wagerup. The role is required to be based at site full time and can transition to a hybrid role once familiarised with the role and project.

Work on some of Australia’s most significant industrial assets, partnering with industry-leading operations to deliver innovative engineering solutions, major projects and critical operational support.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical engineering services that meet Worley, client, statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Undertake engineering design and technical verification of discipline deliverables.
  • Develop fit-for-purpose solutions from concept to as-built, considering safety, sustainability, constructability, operability, maintainability and decommissioning.
  • Identify and manage safety hazards and asset lifecycle risks, ensuring relevant actions are closed out.
  • Identify issues, develop practical solutions and seek support where required.
  • Perform and/or manage discipline engineering activities, including scope control, calculations, drawings, documentation, checking, project reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs and safety in design workshops.
  • Prepare mechanical engineering estimates for RFQs, including scope, methodology, assumptions, exclusions, deliverables, schedule inputs and resourcing requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of Worley engineering systems, processes, practices and procedures.
  • In a project lead capacity:
  • Manage engineering task sequencing to support project schedules, including third-party activities.
  • Act as the primary client interface for discipline-specific engineering matters.
  • Maintain technical integrity through checking, design reviews and quality control.
  • Provide technical direction, supervision and resource coordination for engineering and design.
  • Deliver discipline outputs on schedule and budget while managing change control, technical queries, progress reporting, files and squad checks.

Candidate criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications with a 4-year Bachelor degree in Engineering majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years technical experience in the Refinery/Mining Industry or similar industry; including experience leading projects on a discipline level.
  • Extensive experience (>5 years recent) in brownfield processing plants / refineries, preferably in the Alumina industry.
  • Must have ability to work across multiple projects.
  • Experience across all phases of engineering projects.
  • Good understanding and proven experience in:
    • Equipment layout
    • Design of pump and piping systems
    • Fluid system analysis and design particularly of slurry systems
    • Pipe stress analysis
    • Design of pressure equipment
    • Design of materials handling equipment
    • Read and interpret drawings, including general mechanical, piping and P&ID drawings.
  • Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and discipline specific software including:
    • AFT Fathom / Fluid Flow 3
    • Non compressible and compressible fluid system analysis
    • Navisworks
    • Bluebeam / Adobe Suite
