The Opportunity

In partnership with our host, Origin Energy, we are currently seeking a full-time Electrician Apprentice to join their team.

Origin Energy is a leading Australian integrated energy company, with operations spanning energy retail, power generation, and natural gas production.

Origin is also the upstream operator of Australia Pacific LNG, supplying natural gas to domestic markets and exporting LNG under long-term contracts.

This full-time opportunity offers hands-on experience alongside industry experts while you complete the highly regarded UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, helping you build a strong foundation for your career as an electrician.

This is a full-time, on-site position based at Origin Energy's Uranquinty Power Station.

Job Details

In this role, you will be mentored by experienced tradespeople and gain valuable hands-on experience. While supporting the Site Electricians (with appropriate guidance and ongoing assistance), your responsibilities will include:

  • Routine and breakdown maintenance on gas turbine and balance-of-plant electrical equipment
  • LV switchboard, MCC, and distribution board inspections, cleaning, and repairs
  • Instrumentation work, including calibration, loop checking, and transmitter and sensor replacement
  • Cable installation and terminations
  • Motor and actuator maintenance, alignment checks, and replacements
  • Lighting, small power, and general site electrical repairs
  • Assisting with control system and fault finding
  • Testing and tagging, along with periodic electrical safety testing
  • Completing work orders and maintenance records
  • Participating in JSEAs, toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, and the site's permit-to-work system

Hours:
Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 3:30pm

About You

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will demonstrate a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safe work practices.

  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong numeracy and literacy skills

  • Exhibit a strong aptitude for detailed and technical tasks

  • Have previous work experience or a pre-apprenticeship (highly regarded)
  • Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s licence
  • Hold a Construction White Card or be willing to obtain one upon commencement
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, Drug & Alcohol Screening, and Police Check
