Some Cafe is a country cafe, open seven days a week from 8am to 2pm, located in the heart of Collector, NSW. Alongside our cafe menu, we offer jams, honeys, merch, and other small goods online. We are passionate about fresh, wholesome food, community atmosphere, and delivering outstanding customer service.
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced, creative, and reliable Cook / Chef to join our team. The right candidate will be comfortable in a busy cafe environment, producing high-quality dishes, maintaining hygiene standards, and contributing to menu development and prep.
Key Responsibilities
- Select fresh ingredients and inspect foodstuffs for quality and freshness.
- Prepare and cook a variety of café-style dishes per our menu and seasonal offerings.
- Adjust seasoning, plating, and presentation to meet our standards.
- Maintain food safety and hygiene in all aspects of kitchen work.
- Cater to special dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, allergies).
- Portion and plate food attractively while managing time and workflow efficiency.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and estimating supply needs.
- Support and train kitchen staff/apprentices as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Certificate III (or higher) in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in a similar cook/chef role.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a small team.
