About the opportunity
Six Degrees Executive is partnering with a Queensland Government infrastructure agency to appoint two Senior Cultural Heritage Officers to its regional Environment and Cultural Heritage team on the Sunshine Coast.
The team plans, delivers and maintains major transport infrastructure across the region. Its cultural heritage officers make sure every project meets its legislative, departmental and government commitments to cultural heritage, from early planning through to construction and ongoing operations.
This is a long term contract, running through to November 2028 with a further two year extension option. That gives you the stability to build lasting relationships with Traditional Owner groups and see projects through from start to finish.
The agency is committed to reconciliation and to a workplace where Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples can thrive. It also values an inclusive culture, career development and a healthy work life balance.

About the role
You’ll be the cultural heritage lead on multiple project delivery teams, providing expert advice on Indigenous and non Indigenous cultural heritage. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing cultural heritage advice and management services across the planning, design, construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure projects
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Traditional Owner groups
  • Advising stakeholders on relevant legislation, policy, procedures and cultural heritage requirements
  • Undertaking cultural heritage assessments and preparing reports, management plans and agreements
  • Managing and participating in field work, including surveys, studies, monitoring, project inspections and audits
  • Implementing legislation, policy and procedure for cultural heritage management across project delivery and road corridor operations
  • Working collaboratively within the Environment and Cultural Heritage team

About you
You’ll bring a deep understanding of cultural heritage management at both a strategic and project level, along with a strong commitment to governance and risk management. You’ll build trust with stakeholders, especially Traditional Owners, and you’ll be comfortable moving between the office and the field.
