A large and well-established organisation is undertaking a significant Data Governance transformation program to strengthen data quality, stewardship, compliance and governance practices across key business domains. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative data governance team and contribute to the implementation of enterprise-wide governance frameworks and processes.
Your new role
As a Data Governance Analyst, you will support the implementation and ongoing adoption of data governance practices across the organisation. Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, you will assist with governance processes, stakeholder engagement, data stewardship activities, governance reporting and the maintenance of key governance artefacts.Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the development and maintenance of data governance standards, processes and procedures.
• Maintaining governance documentation, decision registers and governance artefacts.
• Facilitating governance forums, working groups and data stewardship meetings.
• Partnering with Data Owners, Data Stewards and technical teams to embed governance practices.
• Identifying and documenting Critical Data Elements (CDEs), business definitions and classifications.
• Supporting the onboarding and education of Data Stewards across the organisation.
• Producing governance reports to identify governance gaps, risks and issues.
• Maintaining governance information within governance tools such as Collibra.
• Assisting with governance reporting to leadership and governance committees.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of governance processes and frameworks.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Minimum 4 years' experience in Data Governance, Data Management or a related discipline.
• Experience working within large, complex or regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, including data stewardship, metadata, data quality and data classification.
• Hands-on experience with Data Governance tools such as Collibra.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong documentation, governance reporting and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
• Understanding of data privacy, records management or data protection principles would be highly regarded.
• Previous experience within higher education, government or other regulated industries is advantageous.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Business, Information Management or a related field.
