Company Details:

Our client, Sky Fuels Pty Ltd, operates Bordertown Café & Restaurant in Bordertown, South Australia. The café serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, offering dine-in services with seating for customers.

Position Overview:

The employer is looking for an experienced and motivated individual qualified as a Cook, capable of managing a high volume of customers. This hands-on role requires attention to detail and a positive work attitude.

To be successful, candidates must have relevant work experience and trade qualifications, along with a genuine interest in the hospitality industry. The successful applicant must also comply with all WHS, Food Safety, and HACCP requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Certificate II or III in commercial Cookery with at least 1 year of experience

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare a wide range of meals from the menu
  2. Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use
  3. Contribute to improving the menu list, kitchen facility, and business of the restaurant
  4. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation
  5. Standards and food preparation checklist
  6. Prepare meat and non-vegetarian dishes and salads
  7. Undertake portion control practices, arrange, and garnish food according to the
  8. Creative ethos of the kitchen • Store food in temperature-controlled facilities
  9. Provide input in the creation of seasonal menus and new recipes
  10. Season and cook food according to recipes or your own experience and knowledge
  11. Help with stock management including, ordering, rotation, and wastage control
  12. Ensure wastage is kept to a minimum
  13. Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen

Other Key Skills and Experience:

  1. Skilled in preparing, seasoning, and cooking food according to recipes
  2. Understanding of food safety and OHS requirements
  3. Strict compliance towards food safety and COVID safety management plans
  4. Be able to work under pressure in a busy kitchen
  5. Be a motivated individual who has a passion for cooking
