CNC Machinist/Operator
- Programming and operating CNC lathes and mills
- Interpreting engineering drawings and performing quality checks

About the role:
- Our client is a long‑standing Australian manufacturer specialising in precision‑machined components for a wide range of industrial sectors.
- Based in Braeside in Melbourne’s south‑east.
- Full‑time permanent opportunity within a stable and supportive team environment.
- Monday to Friday, 6am-2pm.
About your duties:
Reporting to the Production Manager, your key responsibilities may include
- Programming and operating CNC lathes, including machine setup, tooling, and workpiece preparation
- Interpreting engineering drawings and ensuring components meet required tolerances
- Performing quality checks and maintaining high standards of accuracy and workmanship
- Troubleshooting machining issues and adjusting programs or setups as required
- Maintaining safe work practices and contributing to a clean, organised workshop
- Supporting continuous improvement and sharing knowledge with team members
- Working autonomously while collaborating effectively within the machining team
- Assisting with general machining tasks as needed, including occasional manual machining
About you:
- Trade‑qualified CNC Machinist, Fitter & Turner, or equivalent
- Proven experience programming and operating CNC lathes and/or mills
- Working knowledge of G‑code
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality
- Able to work independently, use initiative, and solve problems on the job
- Team‑oriented with a willingness to support and mentor others
- Reliable, self‑motivated, and eager to continue developing your skills
