Carpenter
- Carry out first- and second-fix carpentry, including cutting materials, erecting frameworks and installing structures.
- Read plans and prepare site layouts; construct formwork and erect scaffolding as required.
- Follow site safety and quality requirements, maintain a safe work area and guide less-experienced personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Site safety, plant and power tool safety
* Study specifications in blueprints and sketches site conditions to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required
* All procedures associated with first and second fixing
* Manual lifting and handling
* Cut timber and other materials with hand and power tools, nail and assemble cut and shaped parts
* Erect framework
* Assemble and fasten materials to make framework and props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins or glue
* Install structures and move into position
* Erect scaffolding for assembling structures
* Construct forms including placement of required supports, propping, connection of shutters via z-bars, levelling of walls and induction of pour height
* Explain and enforce Occupational Health and Safety requirements and other industry safety matters
* Maintain a safe and clean work environment
* Instruct onsite personnel of lesser experience
