Building Certifier | Remote Contract Opportunity

Your new company
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Building Certifier Level 3 to support a regional Queensland local government authority on an immediate-start contract through to 2 July 2027. This role offers the flexibility to work remotely while contributing to the assessment and approval of residential building applications.

Your new role
As the Building Certifier, you will be responsible for assessing and approving building applications, primarily relating to Class 1a and Class 10a structures, while providing technical building advice where required. The position is focused on certification and assessment activities only, with no stage inspections required, making it an ideal opportunity for professionals seeking a fully remote engagement.Key responsibilities will include:

• Assessing and determining building development applications and compliance matters.
• Reviewing applications under relevant building legislation and regulations.
• Providing specialist technical advice on building matters.
• Preparing reports, recommendations and associated correspondence.
• Managing enquiries and maintaining accurate records.
• Ensuring compliance with the Building Act, Building Code of Australia, relevant Australian Standards, Planning Act and local government requirements.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will possess:

• Current QBCC Building Certifier Level 3 licence (minimum requirement).
• Bachelor of Building Surveying and Certification or Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying and significant industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Building Act, Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards and planning legislation.
• Demonstrated experience assessing building applications and providing technical advice.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and report-writing skills.
• Previous local government experience will be highly regarded
