Building Associate – Full-Time Position

Sydney - New South Wales

Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 per annum

ISCM PTY LTD is an Australian construction company specialising in structural reinforcementand steel fixing services, with experienced teams delivering works across a range of major construction projects. The company provides steel fixing and labour-hire services and undertakes reinforcement works including walls, ramps, post-tension slabs, conventional reinforcement, mechanical connections, drill and epoxy works, and associated groundworks. ISCM has contributed to a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, educational, healthcare and infrastructure-related construction projects across New South Wales and Australia.

We are currently seeking an experienced Building Associate to support the delivery of structural reinforcement and construction works across our projects.

The successful candidate will assist with the supervision and coordination of construction-phase activities, including labour, subcontractors, materials, plant, equipment, site records, progress reporting and quality control. Working closely with the Construction Manager and project team, you will help ensure that works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, quality requirements and construction programs.

This is a site-based leadership role suited to someone with strong construction knowledge, organisational skills and the ability to coordinate people, resources and technical site activities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day construction activities across assigned sites or work packages.
  • Assist the Construction Manager with planning, sequencing and organising site activities.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, trades and site personnel to maintain productivity and project progress.
  • Allocate and organise labour according to construction priorities and site requirements.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, plans and work schedules to coordinate site works.
  • Monitor progress against the construction program and promptly report delays, constraints and other site issues to the Construction Manager.
  • Coordinate materials, deliveries, plant and equipment required for scheduled construction activities.
  • Monitor workmanship and inspect completed works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, quality requirements and applicable standards.
  • Identify defects or non-conforming work and coordinate appropriate rectification.
  • Monitor labour and material usage, productivity and wastage at site level.
  • Conduct pre-starts and toolbox meetings and promote compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, checklists and defect registers.
  • Identify construction and coordination issues and implement practical site-level solutions or escalate matters to the Construction Manager where required.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Construction Manager and assist with the coordination of upcoming works.

About you

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Relevant qualification in Building and Construction or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience as a Building Associate, Site Supervisor, Construction Supervisor, Site Foreman or similar construction role.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and relevant building requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating subcontractors, trades, labour, materials, plant and site activities.
  • Experience monitoring construction progress, workmanship, quality and compliance against project requirements.
  • Good planning, problem-solving, communication and site reporting skills.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements on construction sites.
