We’re seeking an experienced professional who brings strong technical capability, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to partner with senior stakeholders to work with one of our most respected Federal Government agencies.  This is a 12month contract with possibility of extension. 

About the Role

You will provide high‑quality financial advice, project accounting support, and strategic insights across a busy portfolio of IT initiatives. Working closely with operational and project leaders, you’ll ensure financial activity aligns with the Commonwealth financial framework and organisational priorities.

The successful candidate will bring:

• Formal qualifications in accounting, finance or business OR significant public sector financial management experience.
• Experience as a Finance Business Partner or in financial/management reporting.
• Strong background in project accounting — ideally within IT and government.
• Confident technical skills in accounting theory and management accounting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Leadership, organisation and the ability to deliver under tight timeframes.
• Analytical capability to support decision‑making and drive financial performance.
• Interpersonal skills to thrive in a collaborative, high‑tempo team.

Highly advantageous skills to bring:

• CA or CPA qualified or currently studying.
• Public sector finance business partnering experience.
• IT project accounting or financial project management experience within government.
