Apprentice

Embark on a rewarding learning journey as an Apprentice - Sports Turf Management. This apprenticeship opportunity is based across high-profile professional sporting training venues located throughout the eastern suburbs of Sydney, supporting elite teams within the NRL, AFL, and Super Rugby competitions. Locations include Moore Park, Centennial Park, Heffron Park and David Phillips Sports Complex. This four-year apprenticeship will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for career advancement.

Our program offers paid hands-on training under expert mentors, equipping you with valuable skills and a nationally recognised trade qualification. At the end of the program, you'll be equipped with all the knowledge and hand on skills you will need to build your career and move into roles such as a Team Leader or Site Manager - ready to lead with confidence.

What You'll Learn

• Prepare and apply chemicals for pest, weed, and disease control, ensuring proper transportation and storage
• Install and maintain drainage and pressurised irrigation systems, including operation and upkeep
• Operate various machinery and equipment required for maintenance tasks
• Improve soil quality for gardens and turf, promoting healthy plant nutrition and optimal growth
• Control weeds, pests, diseases, and disorders affecting plants and turf areas
• Renovate and construct sports turf facilities
• Safety protocols and equipment operation

About You 

You may not have any prior experience in the sports turf management field, but you are a proven hard worker and are motivated and keen to learn new skills. Your can-do attitude will underpin your success in this role.

You are mature and are able to deal with people from all walks of life.

You already have, or are prepared to obtain, a White Card and Working with Children Check. Although not an absolute requirement, if you have a current drivers' licence this will be looked upon favourably.

You must be an Australian citizen to satisfy the government requirements in relation to the schooling component of the apprenticeship.
