Your new company
This government division is responsible for improving workplace health and safety, electrical safety, workers compensation regulation, and industrial relations outcomes across Queensland. It works closely with industry and the community to promote compliance, deliver accessible services, develop evidence-based policies, and foster a high-performing culture focused on safety, fairness, and organisational excellence.

Your new role
As a Tribunal Officer, you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Scheduling and confirming tribunals with respective stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Maintaining tribunal rooms prior to and after tribunal appointment in accordance with the respective requirements
  • Preparing, typing and presenting tribunal findings in an accurate and timely manner and sending to respective stakeholders.
  • Preparing and maintaining an electronic file that contains the referral material using a PDF bookmarking system
  • Accurately recording and maintaining tribunal files in the electronic case management systems
  • Liaising with workers, representatives, insurers and tribunal members in relation to the tribunal process, specifically in relation to what they can expect on the day of a tribunal and always treating people with respect.
  • Providing support to tribunal members throughout the tribunal process, by ensuring they have all the information required for them to fulfil their role, including providing assistance with technology
  • Supporting virtual hearings, including creating the meeting, testing the connectivity, and ensuring the virtual hearing runs smoothly during the tribunal
  • Managing the Medical Assessment Tribunal reception area with confidence and courtesy and presenting a professional image to all visitors
  • Identifying opportunities to make the tribunal process as efficient and effective as possible
  • Actively engaging in a team, supporting team members and working flexibly to meet business needs. Undertake a range of other tasks and duties as required to assist in or support the delivery of tribunal services including:
    • chaperone of workers as required
    • ensuring all costs associated with tribunal activities, including payments to doctors, are correctly coded and authorised for payment (financial processing invoices etc)
    • providing training to new and existing staff on Tribunal Services policies, procedures and systems
    • booking flights, car parking, and organising tribunals in regional areas

What you'll need to succeed

  • Advanced word processing, data entry and technical proficiency.
  • Previous experience in Dictaphone typing.
  • Adobe and electronic file management experience in a paperless office environment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders and build and sustain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders and tribunal doctors.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of medical terminology and workers' compensation legislation.
  • Demonstrated effective task prioritisation, multitasking skills and the ability to manage timeframes to meet deadlines.
